Ricardo Strefezzi

Prof. Ricardo De Francisco Strefezzi is Veterinarian, graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, University of São Paulo (USP) in 1997. He obtained his Master’s degree (2001) and PhD (2007) in Experimental and Comparative Pathology from the USP. He is a Specialist in Veterinary Pathology certified by the Brazilian Association of Veterinary Pathology (ABPV, 2014) and earned the Habilitation (Livre-Docência) in General Pathology and Oncology of Dogs and Cats from the Faculty of Animal Science and Food Engineering, University of São Paulo (FZEA-USP), in 2015.

He completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Comparative and Translational Oncology at The University of Edinburgh and The Roslin Institute (2022–2023). He is currently an Associate Professor (level 3) in the USP, Pirassununga, SP, Brazil, and serves as a graduate advisor in the Experimental and Comparative Pathology Graduate Program. His research focuses on Veterinary Pathology, with an emphasis on Oncology, particularly prognostic indicators for neoplasms in dogs and cats.

He has supervised more than 40 graduate and undergraduate research projects and published more than 80 scientific articles in indexed peer-reviewed journals. He is Area Editor for Pathology of the Brazilian Journal of Veterinary Research and Animal Science (since 2020) and acts as a peer reviewer for 29 national and international journals.

He served on the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Association of Veterinary Oncology (ABROVET) from 2014 to 2024, was a member of the Evaluation Committee for the Specialist Title in Veterinary Oncology in 2021, served as Director of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of FZEA-USP from 2018 to 2022, and is currently a board advisor (2026–2027) of the Brazilian Association of Veterinary Pathology (ABPV).
