Clinician: Small Animal Clinical Studies Oncology/Internal Medicine

University College Dublin Veterinary Hospital is a leading multi-disciplinary, specialist, veterinary referral and teaching hospital located in the thriving city of Dublin in the east of Ireland, between the mountains and the sea.

We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated, proactive small animal clinician, who is passionate about increasing their knowledge of small animal oncology. The position is especially suitable for someone who has or is undertaking an advanced practitioner certificate in small animal oncology or has a certificate in internal medicine with a special interest in oncology. 

The Hospital is facilitated with digital radiography, 32 slice Siemens CT and a state of the art 1.5T MRI, fluoroscopy, laparoscopic and arthroscopic imaging systems, interventional radiology, commercial laboratory, and a radioactive iodine suite. There are ongoing discussions on introducing electrochemotherapy. Our very large clinical caseload provides opportunity for developing clinical research that is actively encouraged.

This temporary clinical post has 80% clinical service and clinical teaching activity and 20% off clinic time.  The Hospital enjoys a varied and busy referral oncological caseload and is supported by an experienced, dedicated, full-time oncology nurse together with a small animal Intern. The successful candidate will have direct support from one of six specialists in internal medicine rostered to the service each week. The Oncology Service  is located in a self-contained area allowing cases to be managed in a quiet, stress free and safe environment. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to improve clinical experience, specifically in a referral setting allowing sufficient time to appropriately work-up oncology cases whilst at the same time offering experience in clinical teaching and clinical research.
