28/08/2022: Residency Position in Radiation Oncology, Zürich, Switzerland

 Starting date: January 2nd, 2023

We are inviting strong, motivated, self-reflected colleagues to apply for a three-year residency position "ECVDI-Radiation Oncology", that will be available as of early 2023. The position is in full-time and paid according to our clinical standard for residents (approx. CHF 66'000 in the first year).

We are specifically looking for a colleague that brings a high motivation, the creativity and drive to learn and contribute to the clinical and research work in our fantastic team. The Division of Radiation Oncology provides the medical and radiation oncology service of the University Small Animal Hospital in Zurich. Strong collaborations with our surgical oncology group and other divisions are well established and intensely cultivated.

Team and facilities: The Division of Radiation Oncology consists of 2 board-certified and 1 board-eligible radiation oncologists, 1 board-eligible medical oncologist, 1 board-certified internist in medical oncology (part-time), currently 1 Rad-Onc resident, 2 veterinarians at an internship level, 3 radiation technicians (part-time) as well as 2 veterinary technicians. Strong physics support is available at all times.

The University Small Animal Hospital of the Vetsuisse-Faculty, University of Zurich is a state-of-the-art academic referral clinic, with a 24-hour emergency service and specialty appointments (board certified specialists) in all disciplines.

Our division is known to be one of the strongest and most well-equipped radiation oncology units in Europe, with a long and successful track record of training radiation oncologists. We believe in providing our high-end radiation therapy skills to our patients and look after our clients in a strong service-oriented manner, while at the same time cultivating our strong clinical research.

Duties: The resident will be trained and work under the supervision of Diplomats of the ACVR (Radiation Oncology) and ECVDI (add Rad Oncol) and follow a residency program according to the newly founded subspecialty of the ECVDI. The resident is expected to participate in all clinical work in the division and as well as in supervision and teaching of undergraduate veterinary students.

Qualifications: The applicant must have a veterinary degree that is recognized in Switzerland and have completed a minimum of one year in a recognized general clinical training program (internship) or satisfactory veterinary practice equivalent of a minimum of two years. The applicant must have a strong ambition to become a specialist in veterinary radiation oncology and take the examinations for the European Diploma in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging - subspecialty Radiation Oncology. The candidate must have very good interpersonal skills, be a strong team player and sound communicator. The ideal candidate has at least basic German language skills, however, language learning will be strongly supported. English is used as a working language in the division.
