Northwest Veterinary Specialists is a leading referral-only specialist small animal hospital in Cheshire. We are a multidisciplinary hospital with departments in anaesthesia, cardiology, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, oncology, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery and neurology. Each of the clinical disciplines is staffed to European diplomate or RCVS specialist standards.

The successful candidate will be supervised and work closely alongside two RCVS and European Oncology Specialists, two Oncology Residents and a dedicated Oncology Nursing team.

The hospital has excellent facilities including a dedicated chemotherapy suite, electrochemotherapy equipment, in-house laboratory with digital microscope, digital radiography, 3 ultrasound machines, CT, MRI, fluoroscopy, endoscopy/cystoscopy/bronchoscopy, 3 surgical suites and minimally-invasive surgical equipment.

Over the 12 month period, the successful applicant will gain experience in medical oncology, surgical oncology, diagnostic imaging and clinical pathology. They will be required to assist with consultations, client communication, diagnostic investigations, surgical procedures, and inpatient care.  Interns also participate in hospital rounds, journal clubs, and are supported to acquire clinical research experience and to attend continuing professional development sessions provided by the specialist colleagues.

The successful candidate must be a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and have completed a 12-month rotating internship or at least two years of general small animal practice.

All applicants must be highly motivated to provide a first-rate level of care for our patients and clients and to work well within a team. Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
